About the Innovation Prizes

Who runs the Innovation Prizes, how picks are made, and how the prizes are paid for.

The Innovation Prizes are an annual editorial program that names the best consumer health apps and devices in twelve categories, from fitness trackers and smart rings to glucose monitors, meditation apps and calorie counters. Each category page explains why the winner won, what the finalists do better for some people, and which other products deserve a look.

Who runs the prizes

The Innovation Prizes are an independent editorial program. We have no commercial relationship with the makers of the apps and devices we cover, and no maker can pay to take part, to win or to use a badge.

How picks are made

Picks are made by the Innovation Prizes editors from public information: makers' specifications and documentation, FDA records, peer-reviewed research, app store listings and privacy policies. There is no jury and no paid panel, and we do not claim hands-on testing.

How the prizes are paid for

Nobody pays to enter, to win or to use a badge. The site carries no advertising and no affiliate links.

Badges

Winners and finalists can display a badge on their own sites for free. Badge rules and embed codes.
