Best Smart Rings for 2027

Oura Ring 5 is our best smart ring for 2027, with Health Radar now on every Gen3 and newer ring. RingConn Gen 3 and Samsung Galaxy Ring are the 2027 finalists.

The verdict

For the year ahead, Oura Ring 5 remains the ring to buy if you value research-backed sleep and recovery insight and are comfortable with a membership. RingConn Gen 3 earns a finalist place for buyers who refuse an ongoing fee and want a two-week battery rating, while Samsung's Galaxy Ring holds the other finalist spot for people committed to Samsung phones, since no successor has been announced.

Heading into 2027, the Oura Ring 5 is still the smart ring to buy if you want the most thoroughly researched sleep and recovery data and will pay for a membership to see it. If an ongoing fee is a dealbreaker, RingConn Gen 3 is the finalist to choose, and Galaxy phone owners should look at the other finalist, Samsung’s Galaxy Ring.

The 2027 lens

This edition looks forward, so only rings you can buy now, or that have a firm release date, were eligible; announced-but-undated rings from Circular and Amazfit were left out. The scoring follows our five-part judging method, with one adjustment in emphasis. When you buy a ring for a year or more, the running cost and the company’s handling of your data matter as much as the launch-day features, so access and privacy were read closely alongside novelty and evidence. All of it comes from the makers’ published material and from news reporting, not from personal wear.

The membership question

Rings now divide neatly by how they make money after the sale, and for a year-long purchase that divide matters more than any sensor. Oura makes most of its insights part of a membership, which it says is tied to your account rather than to a specific ring, so it carries over when you upgrade. RingConn advertises its Gen 3 as needing no subscription. Samsung charges nothing extra for the Galaxy Ring’s current Samsung Health features, according to Tom’s Guide, while reserving the right to set different terms for future ones. Ultrahuman sells the Ring Pro with optional add-ons it lists under memberships. Over a full year, the membership is a recurring cost to weigh against what the extra analysis is worth to you.

Winner: Oura Ring 5

The case for the Ring 5 in 2027 rests on three things. The first is hardware. Oura’s spec sheets put the Ring 5 at 6.09 by 2.28 mm against the Ring 4’s 7.90 by 2.88 mm, and the battery rating rises by a day at each end of the range. It is titanium, waterproof to 100 meters with an IP68 rating, and its app runs on both iPhone and Android phones.

The second is a software roadmap that is already shipping rather than promised. Health Radar, which watches overnight signals for blood pressure patterns and breathing disturbances over 30-day periods, reached US members in 2026 and began rolling out to more than 30 additional markets on October 6. Alongside it, Nighttime BP shows how overnight blood-pressure-related dipping changes over time, Cuff Inputs let you record readings from a real cuff, and GLP-1 Insights puts medication logs, side effects and weight next to your sleep and activity data. Oura labels Health Radar a general wellness feature that does not diagnose or treat anything.

The third is evidence and privacy. Oura cites peer-reviewed work, including a PLOS Digital Health study from the National University of Singapore, highlighted in April 2026, on estimating vascular age from ring signals, though the lead investigator also advises Oura. Its privacy pledge is equally direct: no selling of member data, no sharing without consent, and tools to export or delete what the ring has collected.

Who should wait: Gen3 and Ring 4 owners, because Health Radar already reaches those rings through the app. Who should pass entirely: people who will not pay a membership, since the free view in Oura’s app is mostly limited to three daily scores and battery level.

Finalist: RingConn Gen 3

For a fee-free year, RingConn’s ring is the most capable alternative. RingConn rates its battery at up to 14 days, several days beyond the Oura Ring 5’s upper figure, and its press release puts standard use at 11 to 14 days without vibration alerts. The trade is upkeep: its Vascular Health Insights need calibrating against your own cuff readings three times on day one and monthly afterward, which suits people who already own a home blood pressure monitor. Vibration alerts for health changes and inactivity, and a universal charging case, round out the hardware. The app requires iOS 17 or Android 10 or later, according to published reviews.

RingConn calls Gen 3 a pre-diagnostic tool and says it is not intended to diagnose or treat disease. Its validation story is thinner than Oura’s, which is why it stays a finalist.

Finalist: Samsung Galaxy Ring

Samsung had not announced a successor when this edition was published, so the original Galaxy Ring is still the ring for Samsung phone owners in 2027. Its Energy Score, sleep analysis with snore detection, skin temperature tracking and cycle tracking through Natural Cycles all live in Samsung Health. Battery runs up to seven days on the largest sizes, and the cradle case extends time away from an outlet to about two weeks. It needs Android 11 or later, and several features require a Galaxy phone. TechCrunch noted in September that it lacks sleep apnea and AFib detection, which several rivals now advertise.

Commended: Oura Ring 4

The previous-generation titanium ring is still sold in six finishes, uses the same sensor array as the Ring 5 and gets the same Health Radar software. It is the larger and slightly shorter-lived of the two, and it needs the same membership. Oura notes that sizing differs between generations, so order the matching sizing kit.

Commended: Ultrahuman Ring Pro

Ultrahuman’s titanium unibody ring is built for long trips: its PRO Charger case is rated for up to 45 days of power and stores up to a year of data, and the ring itself stores up to 250 days of data. A ProRelease design allows emergency removal if a finger swells. Ultrahuman’s site lists AFib detection as an add-on feature but makes no FDA claim for it. Its US future depends on a patent dispute that Oura reopened in October.

That legal backdrop is worth a moment of thought before any ring purchase. Oura won a 2025 import ban against Ultrahuman’s earlier Ring Air and later sued Samsung and other ring makers, Samsung has filed its own complaint against Oura, and RingConn and Circular chose to license Oura’s patents, according to Tom’s Guide. For most buyers this changes little, but a ring from a smaller company in an active dispute carries more risk that sales or support could be interrupted.

Where rings go next

The ring market enters 2027 with Oura still ahead on research and on the polish of its insights, and with rivals winning on cost and battery. Oura Ring 5 takes the prize because it pairs that research with the smallest hardware and features that already work on older rings. Treat the new blood pressure and breathing signals as prompts, not diagnoses: if your ring flags either, confirm with a validated cuff or talk to a doctor about your sleep.

Questions people ask

I own an Oura Ring Gen3 or Ring 4. Should I upgrade?

Not for the software. Oura says Health Radar runs on Gen3 and newer rings, so the new blood pressure and breathing signals reach your current ring. The Ring 5's case for upgrading is its smaller body and its slightly higher battery rating.

Are any new rings coming in 2027?

TechCrunch reported in September that Circular expects to launch its Ring 3 series early next year, and Amazfit has said a second Helio Ring is planned. Neither had a firm US release date when this edition was published, so neither was considered.

What does a smart ring do for people on GLP-1 medication?

Oura offers GLP-1 Insights, where members log doses, side effects and weight and see them next to sleep, activity and readiness data. Oura says the feature can inform conversations with a healthcare provider and that it does not prescribe or recommend dose changes.

Is the Ultrahuman Ring Pro safe to buy given the patent dispute?

According to Ultrahuman, no court has ordered sales halted and the ring remains available, and a March 2026 Customs and Border Protection ruling found the redesigned ring falls outside the earlier import ban. Oura's October complaint is unresolved, so availability could change.
